Events

In recent years Mahratta, has hosted a variety of events as well as the property being used as a location for film and television. ‘A Place called Home’ is the most recent television series filmed here.

Behind the Wall

‘Behind the Wall’ is our major fundraising event, and takes place in Spring each year when the garden is at its best. This is one of the few times the public can view inside the house as it is only open for special events and admittance is by guided tour only.

There is a small fee to enter the grounds and an extra fee for the house tours. Visitors can stroll through the 1.6 hectare Sorensen garden which includes a sunken rose garden, an Azalea walk and a Labyrinth. Refreshments are served throughout the day.

In 2017, as there will be various activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Philosophy in Sydney, the Friends will not be holding the ‘Behind the Wall’ until 2018.
