Welcome to Friends of Mahratta
Mahratta, acknowledged as one of the finest Georgian art Deco mansions in Sydney is listed on the State Heritage Register. It has one of the few remaining gardens designed by Paul Sorensen in the Sydney Metropolitan area. He also designed the Blue Mountains gardens “The Everglades” and “The Braes”.
The Friends of Mahratta was established in 2010 to raise funds for the care and preservation of the house and garden as well as opening the property for community use and enjoyment.
Mahratta began as a family home and was later owned by the Bank of New South Wales (now Westpac) Mahratta is currently owned by The School of Practical philosophy.
